About Rita
At a young age drawing came to Rita Jerumanis naturally and from that skill, it brought her to paint with acrylics. From landscapes to portraits, she is inspired by many painting styles like impressionism and pop art.
Her inspiration comes with different subjects as she integrates her scientific eye overlapping exhaustive detail and rigour, getting prismatic colours to sing and intersecting shapes to dance across the canvas.
Rita is a self-taught artist. Using more than one style in a given work earns her definitely the tittle of versatile artist.
Growing up in a Latvian household in Sherbrooke, Quebec, Rita gets exposed to many forms of art like music, singing and dancing in Latvian choirs/festivals in Canada, the USA and Europe.
Her creativity shines through in many artistic venues. Despite her inclination for the arts, she is instead encouraged to pursue her studies in sciences. With a B.Sc. in Biochemistry from Sherbrooke University, a certificate in Education from McGill University in hand, Rita taught science for 35 years at FACE school (Fine Arts Core Education), an art school located in downtown Montreal.
Throughout her teaching career art always found her through personal projects, business endeavours and work-related activities.
